The reason waffle weave microfiber towels work so well for drying is the waffle pattern. Because of the high / low design water is removed from the object being dried by the high parts in the pattern and wicked away to the low parts. This wicking of moisture keeps that outer surface of the towel dryer longer allowing you to go further with each towel.
